This week in Exeter’s Amnesty International Society: An Update

Standard

This week we decided as a society that we would like to focus our next campaign on the ongoing Human Rights abuses in Russia, from laws against homosexuality to journalist murders that remain yet to be investigated. (See link to Amnesty official page two posts below.) What is especially exciting about this campaign is that we can use the upcoming Winter Olympics in Russia as leverage to expose these Human Rights Issues, so stay posted on petitions that will be posted in the next week or so.
Also, we are planning as a society to run a collaborative event on Syria with our Student Guild, as well as with other campaigning societies and our local Exeter Amnesty Group, that will take place at the end of Term. We hope to organise a range of speakers and a fundraising event i maid of the Syrian refugees. We will keep you posted:)
Thank you again for your support, it really matters.
