Blood Diamonds Campus Campaign: Wednesday 16th Oct

Standard

Amnesty International Society’s first campaign of the term is raising awareness of the ongoing consumption of diamonds whose sources could have been from zones that allow the trade to fuel conflict, civil war and human rights abuses. Although a charitable organisation has been set up to combat these problems (The Kimberley Process), it is not being implemented properly or having any effect on people’s lives who are targeted by the trade, as there is not enough demand from consumers to ensure all diamonds are responsibly and safely sourced.
We’ll be campaigning outside the Forum from 1pm Wednesday 16th October, please come and support us or talk to us about the issues around this subject.
